Originally from a finance background, Craig has worked for NSCG in a senior capacity for over 25 years. 

In 2005 Craig was appointed as Vice Principal and has since overseen several significant capital projects, including the redevelopment of the purpose built campus for Newcastle-under-Lyme College and the development of a new Skills and Innovation Centre at the Stafford College campus.

Most recently, Craig led the collaboration between employers and educational partners to bring a prestigious new £22.5M Institute of Technology to the region. In addition, he has driven the College’s work with employers and until recently, headed up the College’s Outstanding apprenticeship provision, until 2022, when Craig was appointed Principal and Chief Executive.

An experienced leader in further education, Georgina will be responsible for working with local employers and education providers to turn the current Institute of Technology vision in to reality.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the role, Georgina graduated from the University of Leicester with a Master’s Degree in Marketing and has undertaken senior leadership roles in both the further education sector and industry, including the last seven and a half years as Executive Director at Dudley College and Managing Director of the Black Country and Marches Institute of Technology. Georgina led the development and successful operation of the Institute which opened its doors to students in September 2021.

Georgina is now keen to use her previous experience to ensure the success of the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Institute of Technology.

Professor Mark Ormerod became Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost of Keele University in 2015. He was previously Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) and Head of the Schools of Physical and Geographical Sciences, and Chemistry and Physics. He was appointed to a lectureship in chemistry at Keele in 1992, and in 1997 was awarded a prestigious EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship and promoted to Professor of Clean Technology and Inorganic Materials Chemistry in recognition of his research achievements. He graduated in natural sciences from Cambridge University and undertook his PhD in surface chemistry there, before being awarded the Cambridge University Oppenheimer Fellowship.

Professor Ormerod has had a strong commitment over many years to widening access and participation in higher education, particularly in the local region, and to Keele University’s positive contribution to the region.

He has an international profile for his leadership, advocacy and communication of and expertise in environmental sustainability and low carbon issues, including serving on numerous national bodies. He plays a key role in leading Keele’s activities in environmental sustainability and low carbon technology, which involves embedding sustainability in all aspects of the University’s operations, across research, education, external engagement and our campus and community. His original research interests centred on more environmentally friendly, greener chemical processes and clean technologies.
