Focussing on the major discipline within Engineering, and enhance the knowledge and skills needed to develop or building on a successful career in engineering and advanced manufacturing. Whether you want to go straight into continue into employment or on to an adult apprenticeship/higher education, this course can lead to a range of progression opportunities within the sector.

To gain the Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing you need to pass 11 units of study.
Three of these are Mandatory Units taken by all students, while the remaining 6 are selected to give a balance of mechanical/electrical units.
The three Mandatory units are:
- Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace
- Communication for Technicians and Mathematics for Technicians
- The Optional units consist of the following but are not limited to, Engineering Materials, Further Maths, Business for Engineers
You need to gain at least a Pass grade in each unit (Merit and Distinction grades being awarded for higher attainment) and are continuously assessed during the course through assignments, written papers and homework, though the precise form of assessment varies somewhat according to the unit. Evidence for learning outcomes may be achieved via assignments, presentations, practical activities and projects. Where available, evidence form the workplace can also be incorporated to enhance the learning outcomes provided that this is appropriate and authenticated as the learner’s own work.
You will gain a National qualification that is recognised and valued by Industry and Higher Education establishments.
Successful completion of the course qualifies you to progress to Higher Education (Higher National Certificate or Degree) courses in the Electrical /Electronic/ Mechanical field, while employment prospects in these areas are also enhanced by the qualification.
You need a minimum of 4 GCSE passes (or equivalent) at grade 4 or higher in appropriate subjects, including Mathematics, English and Science; or a BTEC Level 2 in Engineering; or other qualifications of similar status and relevance. Life skills will also be considered. Students enrolled on the Advanced Apprenticeship programme will also complete this course.
