Higher National qualifications in Motorsport offer the following:

  • an exciting and informative study programme that stimulates and challenges students
  • a simple and flexible structure that enables students to take the Higher National Certificate and then build on it in the Higher National Diploma, with optional units linked to their specialist area of study
  • an opportunity for students to follow specialist routes of interest at Level 5, gaining the knowledge and skills they need to progress to higher education or employment in their specialist area
  • core competencies developed throughout the curriculum, to support lifelong learning skills for personal and professional development
  • the opportunity for centres to offer assessments that consider cognitive skills (what students know) along with effective and applied skills (how they behave and what they can do) to support a practical and dynamic approach to learning
  • unit-specific assessment and Pearson-set themes designed to encourage thorough and analytical learning, challenge students and develop skills in critical thinking, personal responsibility and decision-making
  • a flexible approach to assessment that supports progression to higher education or work and allows for different learning styles

      Units Delivered:
     4001: Engineering Design Or 4063: Engineering Mechanics and Materials
     4002: Engineering Mathematics
     4003: Engineering Science
     4004: Managing a Professional Engineering Project Or 4062: Professional Engineering

     The following units are set by Pearson:
     4093: Race Car Design and Manufacturing
     4094: Motorsport Workshop Practices
    Plus 30 credits from any two units selected from Optional units for Motorsport pathway at Level 4.

On successful completion of the course you gain a widely recognised Level 4 qualification. You will be able to demonstrate a range of subject specific skills as well as general skills and qualities relevant to employers. You could progress onto a HND or ‘top-up’ degree or further professional qualification in the Engineering and Motorsport industry. Alternatively you may wish to pursue employment opportunities in the area.

To study this course you must be over 18 years old and have four GCSEs including mathematics and English or equivalent, and a Level 3 qualification or equivalent. Mature candidates (over 21 years of age) who can evidence a relevant work experience portfolio would be favourably considered and academic requirements may be waived, please contact our HE advisor for more information.
